چکیده
Background A finite element (FE) model based on a 2012 Toyota Camry passenger sedan was developed through the process of reverse engineering by the Center for Collison Safety and Analysis (CCSA) researchers under a contract with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The model can be downloaded from the library of FE vehicle models developed to support crash simulation efforts [1]. The model was validated against the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) frontal New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) test for the corresponding vehicle. This model is expected to support current and future NHTSA research related to occupant risk and vehicle compatibility, as well as FHWA barrier crash evaluation, research, and development efforts. This vehicle conforms to the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) requirements for a 1500A test vehicle [2].

Extended Validation of the Finite Element Model for the 2010 Toyota Yaris Passenger Sedan
A finite element (FE) model based on a 2010 Toyota Yaris passenger sedan was developed through the process of reverse engineering at the National Crash Analysis Center (NCAC) of The George Washington University (GWU). This detailed FE model was constructed to include full functional capabilities of the suspension and steering subsystems. This model was validated by comparing the simulation of t...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Finite Element Model of a 1998 Audi A8 for Crash Analysis
A finite element (FE) model of a 1998 Audi Model A8 has been developed for the crash analysis associated with the NHTSA NCAP program. The AUDI model A8 is an all aluminum four-door passenger vehicle; it is classified as a ‘large sedan’ car. The model developed is to be used to analyze frontal impact against a rigid barrier as specified in standard procedures associated with the assessment of pa...
متن کاملFinite element analysis of fatigue damage in passenger-car diesel engine cylinder head under cyclic thermo-mechanical loadings
In this article, the thermo-mechanical fatigue lifetime of the cylinder head of a passenger-car diesel engine has been estimated. At the first stage, stress and strain distributions in the cylinder head have been calculated using the two-layer visco-plastic model, available in the ABAQUS software. The calibration of the model was performed, using correlating of simulated hysteresis curves and l...
متن کاملImproved Mathematical Model for Helicopters Flight Dynamics Applications
The purpose of this paper is concerned with the mathematical model development issues, necessary for a better prediction of dynamic responses of articulated rotor helicopters. The methodology is laid out based on mathematical model development for an articulated rotor helicopters, using the theories of aeroelastisity, finite element and the time domain compressible unsteady aerodynamics. The he...
متن کاملLoading Estimation of Flapping Wings under Aeroelastic Effect Using Finite Element Method
The aim of this paper is to provide an aeroelastic computational tool which determines the induced wing loads during flapping flight. For this purpose, a Finite Element (FE) code based on a four-node plate bending element formulation is developed to simulate the aeroelastic behavior of flapping wings in low incompressible flow. A quasi-steady aerodynamic model is incorporated into the aeroelast...
